LAHORE, Sept 25: An accountability court pardoned Hamadur Rehman and Babar Ali, investigating officers of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), after they apologised to the judge.

On Monday, the court issued their non-bailable arrest warrants to ensure their presence in court on a reference against Mirza Sultan Muhammad Salim, additional NAB director. Earlier both officers did not attend the court proceedings.

On Tuesday, Hamad said he could not appear in the court because of his health condition and he also submitted a medical certificate to support his argument. Babar pleaded he had not received court’s orders.

FRENCH WOMAN: Justice Syed Hamid Ali Shah of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday issued notices to Sheikhupura police and a French woman for Sept 28 against police harassment. The court issued the orders on a petition filed by a man, who is the former husband of French woman Peggy Collins. Ms Collins has moved court for the custody of her son, alleging her former husband kidnapped him from France.

Muhammad Ashfaq, the petitioner, said the police had raided his residence to find his son, Omar Malik. He added the police had been raiding his house on behalf of his former wife. He said Ms Collins was blackmailing him through legal proceedings.

In the last hearing, Justice Shah ordered the Sheikhupura district police officer to find the child and bring him to the court on Oct 1.

Ms Collins said their divorce took place in 2003 and later her former husband made an agreement in a French court regarding the joint custody of the child. According to the agreement, she said, a parent was to seek permission from the other to take the boy outside France.
