KARACHI, Sept 25: City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal left for New York on Monday night to attend the annual meeting of the Clinton Foundation.

Mr Kamal had been nominated as an honorary member of the foundation and was invited to attend the meeting in his capacity as city nazim.

The meeting is being attended by heads of various states and governments, mayors of mega cities and official delegations.

Participants of the conference, to be held from Sept 26 to 28, will exchange their views on problems and issues pertaining to education, economic development, security, environment, health and poverty, and find their solution.

Working groups have been formed from among the delegates to put forward proposals which, after approval at the conference, would be sent to the heads of developing countries in the form of recommendations.

Besides addressing the conference, Mr Kamal would also hold meetings with mayors of major cities of the world and other delegates to discuss with them the reconstruction and development of Karachi. The nazim will return home on Sept 27.—APP
