RAWALPINDI, Sept 24: An anti-terrorism court here on Monday extended for three days the physical remand of two teachers of Jamia Fareedia arrested in connection with the killing of a Rangers man during the Lal Masjid operation.

The investigating officer requested the ATC 1, Judge Habibur Rehman, to extend the remand of Maulana Abdul Qayyum, the former administrator, and Mohammad Sadiq, a teacher of the seminary, as they wanted to carry out more investigation into the case.

In the Chinese nationals’ abduction case registered with the Margalla police, the court sent two accused to the Adiala jail on 14 days’ judicial remand.

Meanwhile, ATC 2 Judge Sakhi Mohammad Kahot served show-cause notice on an assistant superintendent of Kohat police for not appearing in the court as a key witness in a kidnapping case after receiving the summon.

The kidnapping case was registered with the Attock police. Later, the police traced the kidnap victim and arrested the kidnappers from Kohat.

The court ordered the police official to submit his reply in two weeks.
