KARACHI, Sept 22: Four-year-old chestnut colt Quince who broke the victory jinx by storming to a facile six lengths win last weekend is tipped to repeat the feat in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

Drawn in a pack of 11 runners barring last minute withdrawls in the five furlongs sprinting race, he started as our day’s beat and poised to beat the field again with ease.

He was promoted to the top division of class VII after registering a maiden victory under rider M. Nasir.

Filly Leopard Of Arab, formerly Green Rose, colts Red Rufus and Shiracco come in the reckoning among others who can pose a challenge to Quince, which belongs to the stables of Shah Mardan Shah Pir Pagara.

Similarly, the form of five-year-old bay mare Voo Doo Doll suggests that she will make it two on the trot should she win the feature event, the last race of the programme.

She hit the headlines by posting a four lengths victory under Ghulam Shabbir II in the last outing. However, rider Arshad will be in the saddle on Sunday and it is yet to be seen whether he fits in the shoes of Shabbir or not.

She is likely to be chased by bay Tharkyee and colt Moon Raker for the places.

If tried, four-year-old filly Kat Mandu should make amends by picking up spoils in the supporting event which has 11 contenders in fray.

He has been off-colour in the last couple of races and may atone to the losses.

Mare Sonu Love Mani and filly Janu Love Inshu from the same connection should settle for the places.

After occupying two successive second places, five-year-old bay mare Closing Argument looked certain to pick up spoils in the fifth race.

She is likely to be followed by Fasten Your Seat Belt and Make Millions.

Jaguar, Bewitched, Mixed Blessing and Silver City should dominate the remaining four races.

A card of eight races has been drawn for the day. The first race begins at 12.00 noon.
