Promotion criticised

Published September 23, 2007

QUETTA, Sept 22: Employees of the Balochistan Assembly Secretariat held a protest here on Saturday against the recent promotion of some officers and accused the speaker of ignoring rulers and regulations. They observed a one-hour token strike and formed an action committee to chalk out the future line of action.

Members of the action committee, Rehmatullah Jatak, Baz Mohammad Nasar and Sher of Dawi, announced that they would continue the protest till the withdrawal of the decision.

They said Balochistan Assembly Speaker Jamal Shah Kakar had promoted some of his favourite men to the next grades ignoring the relevant rulers and procedures. The members claimed that some grade-16 employees had been directly promoted to grade-18 and grade-17 officers to grade-19. They said the speaker called the secretary assembly in the dark of the night and asked him to implement his orders and issue notification of promotions immediately.
