Dodgy curves on roads to be removed

Published September 18, 2007

LAHORE, Sept 17: The Punjab Communication and Works Department has chalked out a comprehensive plan to remove black spots and dangerous curves from various roads in the province to minimise accidents.

Sources in the department said the plan had been devised in pursuance of directives of Communication and Works Minister Chaudhry Zaheerud Din.

They said in the first phase survey teams, comprising engineers and road experts, would pinpoint black spots and dangerous curves, especially on thoroughfares, while in the second phase these hurdles would be removed.

A plan, they said, had also been evolved for the rehabilitation and construction of roads which had completed their design period.

The work on the project for removing encroachments from inter-districts and other important roads to ensure smooth flow of traffic was also being implemented, they said.—APP
