Qazi warns of West’s ‘ugly agenda’

Published September 16, 2007

LAHORE, Sept 15: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal President Qazi Husain Ahmad said on Saturday the country seemed to be under enemy invasion as was evident from the incidents like killing of 20 elite commandoes in Tarbela and a ferocious battle going on in Waziristan.

Delivering a speech at Mansoora, Qazi said extreme lawlessness resulting in destabilisation in Pakistan as well as other Muslim countries was in consonance with the Bush administration’s agenda to pitch the Muslims against one another in the wake of 9/11 incident.

He lashed out at the rulers for making Pakistan army invade an Islamabad seminary and massacre women and children there, terming it a short-sighted decision.

He said the invasion of Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa was aimed at widening the gulf between the people and the armed forces that was part of the western conspiracy against the Muslims.

The MMA leader warned the people that enemies of the country wanted to implement their ugly agenda through the military rulers, and if people showed indifference towards the situation, it would amount to strengthening the hands of the enemies. —Correspondent
