MULTAN, Sept 15: Unicef’s Pakistan Country Head Martin Magwanja visited the Punjab Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB) here on Saturday, and said the bureau was the only institution in South Asia that helped rehabilitate homeless children and protect their rights tremendously.

The Unicef and CPWB are currently collaborating to help rehabilitate camel jockeys returning from the Gulf States to Pakistan.

Mr Magwanja praised the CPWB’s efforts to protect and rehabilitate such children and said his organisation would continue its cooperation with the CPWB in this connection.

Later, Mr Magwanja visited various sections of the CPWB and met several children. Zubair Ahmed Shad, CPWB director programmes, Ali Raza, CPWB Multan resident director, and Shamshad Ahmed Qureshi, UNICEF programme officer, accompanied him.
