LARKANA, Sept 13: The Larkana circuit bench of the Sindh High Court on Thursday remanded an assistant sub-inspector in police custody and directed police to register an FIR against him on charges of detaining and attempting to sodomise 12-year-old Fahad Hussain Jhatyal.

Mr Justice Amir Hani Muslim passed the order on the boy’s application after converting it into a revision petition.

The boy alleged that the ASI Naseer Ahmed alias Mir Ahmed Nawaz Tunio picked him up and brought him on his motorcycle to his autaq (guest house) at 5 pm on Sept 11 when he was purchasing chicken meat in the market.

The ASI who resided in the same locality kept him detained at the autaq for three hours after having snatched Rs1,000 and brought him to Rehmatpur police station at 8 pm, he said in his statement in the court.

The ASI came back to the police station at 1’O clock at midnight and again took him to his ‘autaq’ where he “subjected me to severe torture and attempted to sodomise me which I resisted,” the boy said and added that the policeman then locked him up in the autaq and went into his house.

The victim who appeared in court with his father, Haji Khan Mohammed Jhatyal, told the judge that the following day his father approached the ASI who demanded Rs2,000 for locating the boy.

Soon after his father and a relative Gada Hussain paid the amount to the ASI the boy arrived at home, he added.

The court ordered the SHO of Dari police station to take the ASI in police custody and register an FIR against him for keeping the boy in illegal detention and attempting to assault him sexually.

The court also asked the DPO to institute departmental inquiry against the ASI and referred the case to the medical superintendent of Chandka Medical College Hospital to carry out the boy’s medical examination and submit a report within two days.

The court also asked the investigation officer to keep it updated on the progress of the probe.

In another petition, the SHC issued notices to the District Police Officer of Dadu and SHO of Thariri Mohbat police station asking them to produce Haji Ahmed Khoharo arrested by police on Sept 5 in Raza Mohammed Wadho village near Mehar.
