LAHORE, Sept 12: The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Sports has summoned Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) officials to Islamabad to discuss the declining standards of the game.

Chairman of the Standing Committee Rai Azizullah told Dawn on Wednesday that the PHF President Zafarullah Khan Jamali, Secretary Khalid Mahmood, head coach Islahuddin, coach Manzoor-ul-Hasan along with members of the national selection committee would be appearing before the committee in the Parliament House at 2:00pm on Saturday.

According to the chairman, the entire nation was disappointed over the three-time champions of the Asia Cup losing to Japan and China in crucial matches to end up sixth in the tournament.

He said that although Jamali was a senior member of the National Assembly, the committee wanted to apprise the nation about the real reasons behind the debacle of hockey in Pakistan.
