NAWABSHAH, Sept 11: A delegation of lawyers complained to the District and Sessions Judge here on Monday that a judicial magistrate had ‘molested’ a woman litigant in his chamber.

The lawyers told the judge that the magistrate molested the woman after asking her advocate to leave the room. The woman and her counsel had gone to the chamber to submit an affidavit in connection with the woman’s civil marriage.

The delegation was led by the head of the District Bar Association, Nawabshah.

The DBA chief said the Sessions Judge had assured the delegation that he would transfer all cases from the court of the magistrate and curtail his powers.

Earlier during the day, the lawyers held a demonstration against the magistrate and called for his suspension. They also locked his chamber in a show of anger over the alleged incident.
