RAWALPINDI, Sept 5: An additional district and sessions judge here on Wednesday directed the city police officer (CPO) to initiate an inquiry against a sub-inspector (SI) for his alleged highhandedness against a retired naval official.

Judge Mujahid Mustaqeem asked the CPO to appoint a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) to investigate allegations of maltreatment levelled against SI Sheikh Aslam of the Sadiqabad police by the petitioner, Abdul Razzaq, a resident of Muslim Colony.

The petitioner, in his complaint, stated that his son-in-law on August 8 got registered a fake FIR against him and his son on the charges of hurling threats and trespassing.

In pursuance of the FIR, the SI arrested the petitioner and his son after using filthy language against them and kept them in illegal confinement for 27 hours.

During their confinement, they were not only beaten by the SI but also by his son-in-law. The petitioner said his son-in-law had been trying to extort money from him through coercive methods.

Mr Razzaq said he wrote to both the CPO and SP Rawal Town for necessary action against the accused police official but no respite had been provided to him.

He had prayed to the court that a criminal case should be registered against the SI.
