SUKKUR, Sept 5: Imdad Awan Advocate, Coordinator of Sindh Lawyers’ Action Committee, has reiterated that the lawyers in Sindh will observe a black day, boycott court proceedings and start anti-Musharraf movement on Thursday.Addressing a news conference on Wednesday, he said that lawyers across the province would observe boycott of court proceedings on Sept 6 and black flags would be hoisted in bar rooms in protest. He observed that Gen Pervez Musharraf would violate Article 41(10) of Constitution, if he contested presidential election.

Brushing aside allegations that lawyers were pursuing some political agenda, he maintained that legal fraternity was striving for the supremacy of constitution and restoration of democracy.

To a query, Mr Awan said that lawyers belonging to different political parties would submit their resignations, even if they were parliamentarians, when Gen Pervez Musharraf submitted his papers as presidential candidate.—PPI
