LANDI KOTAL (Khyber Agency), Sept 2: Six powerful blasts rocked different localities of Khyber Agency’s Bara tehsil on Saturday night, officials said.

Bara’s political tehsildar Roshan Khan said the explosions took place in Pakka Tarha, Alam Godar, Speen Kabar, Nala Khwarh, Naway Qamar and Dogra areas. The explosions were heard far and wide.

Officials insisted that the explosions were aimed at creating harassment in the area but local people said they had found letters at blast sites “heralding” the arrival of the Taliban in Bara.

The letter said the local Taliban had no enmity with any individual or a religious organisation, but warned of strong resistance if anybody tried to harass or arrest them. It said the blasts were a warning to people in Bara who had shed the blood of Pakistani and Afghan “mujahideen”. The explosions, however, caused no damage to life and property.

Meanwhile, an Afghan refugee was killed and a local resident was injured in separate incidents in Landi Kotal on Sunday.
