Makeshift emerge leaders

KARACHI, Sept 1: Makeshift emerged as the surprise leaders on the opening day of the Karachi Gymkhana Gold Cup bridge tournament on Friday.

At the conclusion of the first two rounds of the seven-round Swiss movement, Makeshift, having S. M. Ozair, Dr Sarfaraz, A. K. Bhurgri and Ishaq Subhani were leading the competition with two straight wins.

They went all out to outpace Mahmood-IV, collected 66 Imps in 16-board contest and claimed maximum victory points.

EFU also won both the matches – defeated Killers 22-8 and Four Bidders 16-14. Abedies were earlier beaten by Four Bidders 8-22.

Candyland defeated Odds & Even 17-13 but lost the second round game to Aces by the same margin.—APP
