CHITRAL, March 14: Tanzeem-i-Tahaffuz Huqooq-i-Chitral (TTH), a non-political organization, has launched a campaign throughout the district to demand the early construction of Lowari tunnel.

Talking to Dawn here on Thursday, the TTH convener, Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali said that the peaceful campaign was aimed at pressing the long-standing demand of the Chitrali people for the construction of the tunnel, connecting Chitral with other districts of the country.

“We urge the government to reduce the PIA fares on the Chitral route, increase the number of flights, operate C-130 flight during the rush season and establish a boarding house for the passengers of the cancelled flights,” he said.

The organization has also convened an all-parties meeting to formulate and adopt a joint strategy to exert pressure on the government to accept the demand. Public rallies will be held in all the six sub-tehsils of the district, according to sources.
