Aamir, Farhan enter final

LAHORE, Aug 30: Top seed Aamir Atlas and second seed Farhan Mehboob entered the final of the first Punjab Open men’s final, winning their respective semi-finals at Punjab Squash Complex on Thursday.

In a match that lasted just 25 minutes, Aamir (Wapda) trounced sixth seed Shamsul Islam (Balochistan) in a one-sided pre-final. The score: 11-8, 11-3, 11-7.

Farhan also had a easy win over the 12th seed Shahnawaz (Navy) 11-5, 11-7, 11-4.

Muqaddas Ashraf (Wapda), who crushed Misbah Rani (Army) in another pre-final 9-1, 9-4, 9-5, and Zoya Khalid (Army) will meet in the women’s final.

Zoya ousted Aliya Sarfraz (Wapda) in the only pre-final, which stretched to four games. Zoya after losing the first game recovered well to win with 4-9, 9-, 9-2, 9-5.

Results:

Aamir Atlas (Wapda) bt Shamsul Islam (Bal) 11-8, 11-3, 11-7; Farhan Mehboob (Wapda ) bt Shah Nawaz (Pak Navy)11-5, 11-7, 11-4.

Muqaddas Ashraf (Wapda bt Misbah Rani (Pak Army) 9-1, 9-4, 9-5; Zoya Khalid (Pak Army) bt Aliya Sarfraz (Wapda) 4-9, 9-4, 9-2, 9-5.

Both the finals will be played on Friday.
