India to face China today

CHENNAI, Aug 30: Hosts India need to put their best foot forward when they clash with China in their opening match of the Asia Cup field hockey tournament here on Friday.

China are keeping a low profile ahead of the 11-nation Asia Cup, which for the first time provides teams an opportunity to earn points and improve their international rankings.

China are placed in Group B with South Korea, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Thailand and the hosts.

Three-time winners Pakistan, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore are in Group A. —AFP
