ISLAMABAD, Aug 30: The management of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) on Thursday formed a medical board to carry out postmortem on the bodies of the American couple, sources told Dawn.

The couple was murdered in their house in I-8/2 on Wednesday night.

Medico Legal Officer (MLO) Dr Farraukh Kamal, who was originally assigned the task, suggested the formation of a full board to avoid any objections on the quality of work done by an individual.

The hospital administration constituted a five-member board consisting of surgeon Prof Aslam Shah, pathologist Prof Noor, gynaecologist Dr Farhat, MLO Dr Farraukh Kamal. The place of forensic expert in the board is still vacant, as the hospital does not have any forensic expert.

The administration has been asked Prof Noor to arrange the forensic expert from other institutions as soon as possible to conduct the autopsy. The postmortem on the bodies is likely to be conducted on Friday.

A consular of American embassy in Pakistan, Deborah Campbell visited the hospital to inquire about the legal process of postmortem on the bodies.

The bodies of the couple are likely to be shifted to America after the autopsy, as the couple’s son lives there.
