PESHAWAR, Aug 30: The All Parties Democratic Movement will hold its public meeting here on Sept 6 according to its announced schedule.

This was stated at a meeting of the APDM’s organising committee held at the Bacha Khan Markaz here on Thursday.

Presided over by ANP’s provincial general-secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain, the meeting was attended by Dr Iqbal Khalil of the Jamaat-i-Islami, Dr Said Alam Mehsud of the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PMAP), Shah Farman of the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf and Mohammad Afzal of the PML-N.

The meeting expressed satisfaction at the arrangements made for the APDM rally and brushed aside the impression that the meeting would be postponed. It asked workers of opposition parties to work hard to ensure maximum participation of the people during the meeting.

ANP’s central information secretary Zahid Khan expressed concern over reports that Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad was being made caretaker prime minister.

In a statement, Zahid Khan claimed that the governor was responsible for the May 12 mayhem in Karachi that left 50 innocent people dead.

The ANP, he said, would bitterly resist his nomination as the caretaker prime minister, because the party could not leave 160 million people of the country at the mercy of a “known killer”.
