Kidnappers held, girl recovered

SAHIWAL, Aug 28: Dera Rahim police have arrested four people involved in kidnap-for-ransom and recovered from them a minor girl.

Abdul Rashid of Chak 138/9-L died in a road accident in Saudi Arabia and the Saudi government gave his widow Irshad Akhtar Rs500,000.

Asif, Ramzan, Razaq and Riasat Moghal allegedly kidnapped Akhtar’s son Shafqat Ali, a student of class seven, and demanded Rs250,000 for his release. Akhtar paid the ransom and got Ali released.

Now the same people allegedly kidnapped Akhtar’s 15-year-old daughter Saima and demanded Rs250,000 for her release. Akhtar told Sahiwal District Police Officer Javed Hussain Shah about her daughter’s abduction. Shah ordered arrest of the accused and recovery of Saima and the ransom paid for Ali’s release.

Police arrested all four accused and recovered Saima and ransom paid for Ali’s release. Later, police registered a case against the accused and sent them on a seven-day physical remand.

RAPE CASE: Kamir police have registered a rape case against a man eight days after the incident.

Taxi driver Muhammad Pervez’s wife was alone at her house on Aug 21. Seth Haroon Rashid allegedly barged in her house at night and raped and injured her. Pervez reported the incident to police, but the police refused to register a case. Later, the police registered a case on the district police officer’s order. Police have yet to arrest the accused.

SHOT DEAD: Four robbers shot dead a milkman from Chak 57/4-R on Monday. Rana Muhammad Malik was on his way to home on his motorcycle after selling milk in Qadirabad when robbers intercepted him. Robbers killed him when he tried to resist.
