DADU, Aug 28: Hundreds of flood affected people are facing shortages of food, medicines and fresh water at the makeshift camps set up along various parts of flood protective bunds including Suprio Bund, Main Nara valley drain and villages in the district.

At least 50 per cent flood-affectees of Mehar, Khairpur Nathan Shah and Juhi were settled on various parts of flood protective embankments while the remaining 50 per cent had returned to their homes after flood water receded.Hundreds of affectees were facing shortage of food, medicines and pure water and many of them were consuming rain water and contracting various waterborne diseases.

During a visit to Suprio Bund in Khan Jo Goth Union Council, an affected woman Ms Soomri, wife of Mohammad Hassan, told Dawn that for the last two months she was living in makeshift camps at Suprio Bund but she was not getting food and medicines.

Meanwhile, local PPP leaders Nazeer Ahmed Chandio, Shiral Khan Pechoho and Arbab Ali Channa, told journalists that local officials and feudal lords had pilfered relief goods given by the prime minister for the flood victims of Dadu.
