LAHORE, Aug 26: The service of a cellular company reportedly remained disrupted for several hours on Saturday and Sunday, causing inconvenience to the subscribers.

A number of subscribers of Warid Telecom told Dawn that service of the company remained disrupted between 4pm and 8pm on Saturday and on Sunday it was reportedly not available almost throughout the day.

They complained that they were not receiving the calls and SMS, however, they could contact other networks.

A subscriber, Ahmed Khan, said he faced problems throughout Sunday in receiving calls and SMS. “Those calling me were told (by the network) that my number had been powered off,” he added.

A Warid Call centre staffer claimed the problem was reported on Saturday, which was removed. He, however, denied the system suffered any glitch on Sunday.

Sources say the cellular phone companies have reduced their call and SMS rates without calculating the outcome and upgrading their systems accordingly. The cellular phone connections are given against landline and the ratio between the former and the latter should be 10 to one. Ironically, the companies have given 15 to 20 connections against each line, they add.
