Khaleda’s court deadline extended

DHAKA, Aug 26: A Bangladesh court has extended the deadline for former prime minister, Khaleda Zia, to appear on tax evasion charges by one month, her lawyer Mohammad Sanaullah said on Sunday.

Khaleda was ordered last month to appear before the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate court on the charges by Sunday.

“We have moved a petition in the court today (Sunday), seeking more time in the case. We said she could not appear in the court due to the prevailing law and order and security situation,” said the lawyer.—AFP
