ANP welcomes decision

QUETTA, Aug 23: Chief of the Awami National Party (ANP) Senator Asfandyar Wali Khan has welcomed the Supreme Court’s ruling to allow former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his brother Shahbaz Sharif to return to Pakistan.

Addressing a news conference after chairing a meeting of the party’s central executive committee here on Thursday, the ANP chief said that it was the constitutional right of the Sharif brothers to play their due political role in Pakistan.

“This (judgement) will have (profound) political impact. Whether someone likes it or not, Nawaz Sharif is the leader of one of the largest mainstream political parties and his return will definitely have a positive impact (on national politics),” Mr Asfandyar Wali said.
