NAWABSHAH, Aug 20: A resident of Essarpura, Mohammad Qasim Arain, has demanded of the Sindh health minister and other authorities concerned to take notice of what he called professional blunder committed by doctors resulting in the death of her daughter.

In an appeal to the health minister through journalists at the press club here on Monday, he said that his daughter Samina, wife of Mumtaz Arain, was admitted to a private medical centre due to labour pain on July 3, 2007.

He further said that she was examined by gynaecologist Razia Bahadur Khero, who also works in Nawabshah Medical College Hospital, who anticipated normal delivery.

He said that his daughter was taken to labour room (OT) where she was operated upon and a baby boy was born.

He alleged that the patient was mistreated and some heavy doses were administered to her due to which she was kept in OT for 12 hours after operation and was shifted to the room semi-conscious. He alleged that the doctor charged a huge amount as fees but could not provide proper treatment to his daughter and kept them on false hopes.

He said that later the doctor referred her to Karachi where she was admitted to Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation and expired due to kidney failure and cardio pulmonary disease on July 13.

He alleged that he lost his daughter due to alleged negligence and professional misconduct of the doctor.

Meanwhile, the first additional district and sessions judge Nawabshah, on the complaint of Qasim Arain, has directed SHO A-section to investigate the case and submit a detailed report on August 28.

When contacted, Dr Razia Bahadur Khero, refused to comment on the issue saying that her lawyer would submit her statement in the court.
