KARACHI, Aug 20: A drug addict killed his mother and sister in Moosa Colony on Monday morning. Police said Muhammad Ali slit the throat of his sister, Samina, while she was preparing breakfast in the kitchen. Later, he stabbed his mother, Jameela, in the abdomen as she came out of the washroom, they said. He changed his blood-soaked clothes and escaped.

Hearing the cries, someone in the neighbourhood called the police.

Quoting the statement of the victims’ neighbours, police said the accused was addicted to drugs and was said to be mentally unstable. His wife had left him some four months ago due to his “sick behaviour”, police said.

According to the area people, the accused was out of work and used to hang around in the neighborhood. Following the incident, a large number people gathered outside the house until police came and broke open the door.

The bodies were shifted to the Jinnah hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police said the accused used a kitchen knife to kill his sister and mother.

Hospital sources said that both the women had died due to profuse bleeding.
