MIANWALI, Aug 18: The chicken price has surged to Rs150 per kilogramme as butchers continued their strike on Saturday against what they said the pathetic attitude of the Tehsil Municipal Administration.

Reports said that Tehsil Nazim Amjad Ali Khan had directed butchers to use the newly-built slaughterhouse after he received public complaints of getting meat of dead animals.

Butchers said they could not bring their animals one day before their slaughter to the official slaughterhouse for the check-up by vets. They vowed to continue their strike till the acceptance of their demand. When contacted, the tehsil nazim said that he would not allow butchers to play with the lives of the people. — Correspondent
