Robbers strike thrice

GUJRANWALA, Aug 18: Robbers looted a national savings centre, a trader’s family and a police constable in three strikes in the city on Saturday. Four robbers barged into a national savings centre at Aimanabadi Gate on GT Road, held the staff hostage, collected Rs1.9 million in cash, prize bonds and mobile phones and fled in a car.

In another incident, four robbers targeted trader Khwaja Zakaullah and his family in the same area. They snatched Rs50,000 in cash, gold ornaments weighing 70 tolas, cell phones and fled in a car.

Four men robbed constable Aslam Chehal of Rs12,800 and two cell phones when he was on his way to Thatha village, Qila Deedar Singh.

BUS SET ON FIRE: People on Saturday set on fire a bus in Shaheenabad after it hit an auto-rickshaw on GT Road and injured a woman and the rickshaw driver.
