KARACHI, Aug 16: The crisis management cell of the federal interior ministry has submitted in the Sindh High Court a consolidated list of 257 missing people, out of whom 121 have been traced, along with a summary.

Chief Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed and Justice Faisal Arab, who constitute the bench seized of the recovery petitions, asked the federal government standing counsel, Mahmood Alam Rizvi, to furnish copies of lists to the petitioners’ counsel.

The list of traced people includes the names of four people detained under the Security of Pakistan Act, nine in custody under other laws, five facing trial, one accused in judicial custody, one army deserter and three convicts. It also includes names of those people who have been freed.

Rushing through the list, Jamhoori Watan Party leader Salim Baloch’s counsel, Noor Naz Agha, said his re-arrest had not been mentioned.

Among those detained in criminal cases are Asaf Baladi, G.M. Bhagat, Chetan Kumar and Qari Abdur Rehman. Muneer A. Mengal of a Dubai-based television channel is among the traced people, who face no trial.

The bench told the counsel to go through the list carefully and submit their comments on Sept 12, when the petitions would again come up for hearing.
