HYDERABAD, Aug 16: The district government of Hyderabad has decided to introduce English as a medium of education in 100 more government schools. Hyderabad District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil said this while speaking at a meeting with officers and teachers of the district here at his office on Thursday.

He said as a policy of promoting English as a medium of teaching along with Urdu and Sindhi schools, ten schools of Hyderabad district were introduced by the district government Hyderabad where English teaching and learning had successfully been completed.

He underlined the need to impart education in English language and said that healthy atmosphere of competition with private institutions should be encouraged. He said it would be a responsibility of officers of the Education Department to motivate teachers for maintenance of discipline among students, use of uniform and free supply of books to students.

The nazim assured that the District Government would provide all facilities to students of these schools.

He said that the District Government has made maximum allocations for improvement in education and an amount of Rs2.1 billion has been allocated out of Rs3.56 billion while about 16,000 teachers were imparting education in 1,080 schools of the district.—APP
