KARACHI, Aug 14: A senior director of the Fishermen Cooperative Society has accused the nazim of Keamari Town of masterminding a ‘murderous attack’ on his predecessor, Zulfikar Yunis.

He termed the attack an attempt to make Mr Yunis withdraw the case pending in the court against the present town nazim regarding a bogus vote count in the local bodies’ election.

This was stated by the FCS Director, Haji Mohammad Yunis, father of the former town nazim of Awam Dost group, Zukfikar Yunis, at a press conference here on Monday.

Giving details of the attack, he said that five masked armed men broke into their house on July 16 at midnight and roughed up his son and daughter-in-law who got seriously injured while resisting the attackers. However, the culprits managed to escape when other members of the family came to their rescue, he added.

Later, the FCS director said his son was admitted to a private hospital and the police station concerned was also informed about the incident.

He deplored that there had been no progress in the case so far and accused the investigating officials concerned of tampering with the material evidence.

Alleging that the investigation process was very slow, he called for action against these police officials and demanded arrests of nominated suspects on the basis of his son’s statement.
