LAHORE, Aug 13: Opener Ahmed Shahzad’s brilliant century steered Pakistan Under-19 to a fine series-levelling victory in the second ‘Test’ against England Under-19 at Derby on Monday.

Set to score 342 for win after conceding a 113-run lead in the first innings, Ahmed slammed a magnificent 167 to lead Pakistan to a three-wicket win in the final session of the four-day tie.

Ahmed (45) and Taimur Ali (6) resumed the second innings on Monday at overnight total of 102-2. Ahmed kept Pakistan in chase while defying all English bowlers for six hours and eight minutes, facing 260 balls and cracking 16 boundaries.

He received able support from Usman Salahuddin (42) as their fourth wicket stand provided 103 runs. Ahmed was seventh out when the target was just 33 runs away. Skipper Imad Wasim (36) and Mohammad Aamer (2) achieved the target without any further loss.
