TIMERGARA, Aug 11: Girl students outshone boys in the annual examination for intermediate, 2007 conducted by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Malakand.

At a press conference in Chakdara on Saturday, BISE chairman Prof M. Iqbal said that out of a total 20,217 students who appeared in the examination, 11,490 were declared successful. The result was 56.83 per cent, he added.

In the pre-medical group, Durre Shahwar of the Malakand Public School, Dargai, clinched first position with 943 marks, followed by Shahidullah of Hira School Timergara with 936 marks. The third position was grabbed by Nida Gul with 924 marks.

In the pre-engineering group, Muqeemuddin of the Government Degree College, Gulabad secured 901 marks, Mansoor Khalid of the Oxford Education Academy, Bathkhela got 895 marks followed by Ahmad Zaib of the Gandahra College Chakdara who obtained 890 marks.

In the humanities group, Chand Anjum, a private candidate, grabbed first position with 847 marks and Ibrar Khan of the Government Higher Secondary School Wari, Dir Upper, stood second with 830 marks. The third position was shared by Sayeda Maryam of the Girls Sentential High School, Timergara and Basirat Alam, a private candidate, with 818 marks.

According to the result, 3,125 girls out of a total 5,044 candidates were declared successful, while out of 9,216 boys, 4,534 passed the exam.
