KARACHI, Aug 11: An additional district and sessions judge, South, Sultan Mohammad Awan, on Saturday deferred the hearing till Aug 25 in the murder case of Afreen Baig, a showbiz personality.

The court also extended the date till Aug 25 for depositing the Rs20,000 fine on the request of the defence counsel.

During its previous hearing on Aug 4, the court imposed a fine of Rs20,000 on a woman, Yasmeen Sultana, who had acted as surety for Zahida, arrested in the murder case of Afreen Baig.

When Ms Sultana had informed the court that she had failed to produce Zahida in court, the court directed her to pay the fine amount within two weeks.

A television producer, actress and singer, Ms Baig died under mysterious circumstances in October 2004 at her Clifton residence.
