KARACHI, Aug 7: A bandit was beaten to death and two of his accomplices were arrested and handed over to police by people of Lyari on late Monday night. Police said at least three gunmen started looting pedestrians near the Babu Hotel in Agra Taj Colony. One of the victims put up resistance and overpowered a suspect. Other people also stepped in and gave a severe beating to the bandit and caught hold of his two accomplices.

Meanwhile one of the suspects opened fire in an attempt to escpe, but a bullet hit his associate identified as Aqeel, who had already suffered at the hands of the people, died instantly, police said.

People of the area handed over Naveed and Abdul Karim to police, who shifted Aqeel’s body to the hospital for legal formalities.
