SAHIWAL, March 10: The Civil Line police on Sunday registered a case against two ASIs and as many constables for keeping a Sui Gas employee in illegal confinement and subjecting him to severe torture.

ASIs Haq Nawaz and Khaliq Riaz and constables Qasim and Dost Muhammad apprehended Umar Hayat for his alleged involvement in a dacoity case. They kept him under unlawful detention and subjected him to severe torture as a result of which one side of his body was paralyzed.

On the orders of the Punjab governor, a board of doctors examined the victim and confirmed the torture.

The Sahiwal SSP, on the orders of the governor, suspended from service all the four police officials and directed them to report to the Police Lines.

SSP also ordered suspension from service of Farid Town SHO Bashir Ahmad and additional SHO Abdul Salaam for keeping a union council Nazim, Hafiz Abdullah, in illegal detention.

Both the policemen have been directed to report to the Police Lines.
