A girl with bomb replica

Published August 4, 2007

GUJRANWALA, Aug 3: The Saddar police claimed to have taken into custody a girl suspected to be a suicide bomber at Wapda Town on Friday. City Police Officer Khadim Husain Bhatti told Dawn that Muhammad Afzal, a resident of Wapda Town, informed the Saddar police SHO that a girl had entered his house with suspected gadgetry.

A police team reached the place from where they arrested the girl, who introduced herself as Nabeela Bibi, about 18, with a shopping bag containing a remote control and a bomb-shaped bottle full of wires.

A bomb disposal squad checked the bottle and said there was no incendiary device in it.

The CPO said the police had constituted a team to quiz the suspect. — Correspondent
