LAHORE, Aug 2: Aisam and partner Rohan Bopanna entered the semi-final of the Castillay Leon ATP Super Challenger in Segovia, Spain winning the quarter-final in straight sets.

However Aisam was ousted in the singles event. The pair from South Asia, halted the march of Olivier Charroin and Farrukh Dustov 6-3, 6-4.

After winning the first set easily, Aisam and Bopanna broke the opponents’ serve halfway through the second set to go 4-2 up. They moved forward without losing any game to eventually complete the win. In the semi-final they will face the winners of the match between Jean-Julien Rojer and Dusan Vemic, and Lamine Ouahab and Fernando Vicente, to be played later.

Earlier, Aisam failed to retain his winning streak in the singles event as a spaniard Guillermo Alcaide ousted him from the second round, 7-6 (4), 6-4.

Playing aggressively, Alcaide moved to take a lead of 4-2 in the tiebreaker after both were locked at 6-6 in the first set. Aisam was unable to recover this lost ground, as Alcaide won the tiebreaker 7-4.

In the second set, like the first one, both players held on to their service games up to a score of 4-5, with Aisam serving to stay in the match. But Aisam lost his composure due to fatigue and lost the crucial game and the match.
