PESHAWAR, Aug 1: The Sarhad Tourism Corporation is utilizing all available resources to promote and develop domestic tourism in the NWFP. Talking to the APP here on Wednesday, the Managing Director, Sarhad Tourism Corporation, Dr Jamal Yousuf said the Almighty bestowed the NWFP with natural beauty which needs to be fully exploited.

He claimed the Sarhad Tourism Corporation has introduced the concept of environmental-friendly tourism by setting up the first camping site at Galayat in Hazara division to provide inexpensive accommodation to tourists, especially students, during the summer vacations.

He said that two groups from FAST University and City University of Peshawar had recently visited Galayat and were guided by the in charge, Events and TIC, Mohammad Ali Syed, about the concept and techniques of green tourism, which was warmly acknowledged by the students and faculty members.

Dr Yousuf said that the Sarhad Tourism Corporation was establishing a Tourist Information Centre for the first time in Galayat which would play a key role in dissemination of information among the tourists and visitors. He said: “We are working on a STC website from which tourists will get first-hand information about potential sites in the NWFP.”—APP
