KARACHI, Aug 1: A judicial magistrate, Central, on Wednesday extended the remand of Akhtar Hussain Baloch, son of Mohammad Akbar, owner of a towel-dyeing factory, in police custody till Aug 4.

The accused was produced before Judicial Magistrate A. Zahoor Chandio, who extended his remand on police request. The police claimed that they had been trying to arrest the other accused and would succeed very soon.

According to the FIR (359/07) registered at the Taimuria police station under Sections 322/H-2 and 427 of the Pakistan Penal Code, a boiler exploded in the factory of the accused on July 24, killing nine people and wounding 25 others.

The nominated accused, Akhtar Hussein Baloch, has been arrested whereas two boiler operators, Mohammad Ahsan and Mohammad Sohail, are at large.
