NAWABSHAH, July 31: A large number of candidates for the post of primary school teacher observed protest here on Tuesday after the IBA Sukkur postponed the test for the jobs.
Raising slogans against the IBA and Sindh education department, hundreds of the candidates blocked Qazi Ahmed road by staging a sit-in on it. A heavy contingent of the police asked them to clear the road after which they marched to the press club and staged a demonstration outside it.
Gullan Khan Chhutto, Murad Brohi and other protesters told journalists that thousands of candidates, male and female, were supposed to take the test at Bahria College on Tuesday. However, when they reached there, they were informed that the test had been postponed due to unknown reasons.
About 5,460 candidates from various parts of district were issued admit cards for appearing in the test. There were rumours that the test was postponed due to leakage of question paper. However, IBA chairman Nisar Ahmed Siddiqui said that tents installed at the college for the test fell down due to wind storm on early Tuesday morning after which the test was postponed. He said that the test would be held with a ‘fresh question paper’ at the same venue on August 4.
