Spinners shine in U-17 cricket

KARACHI, July 28: Spinners Mirza Ahsan Jamil and Arsalan Saleem bowled their respective teams to victories in the KCCA Inter-zonal Under-17 Cricket Championship on Friday.

Off-spinner Ahsan Jamil captured four for 43 to spin Zone-II Whites to a 28-run victory over Zone-III Whites at the TMC Ground.

Irfan Lodhi slammed 75 with eight boundaries and Sami Arshad hit 68 with six fours as Zone-II Whites collected 198-9 in 50 overs. Left-arm spinner Faraz Ahmed claimed four for 43.

Zone-II Whites, in reply, were restricted to 170-9 in 50 overs.

At the Landhi Gymkhana Ground, Zone-IV Whites defeated Zone-V Whites by 22 runs.

Despite a fine 57 from Yasir Munir, who struck eight fours, Zone-IV Whites were dismissed for 159 in 43rd over.

Zone-V Whites, however, were bowled out for 137 in the 30th over with leg- spinner Arsalan Saleem picking up four for 13 and Yasir Munir three for 29.
