SRINAGAR, Oct 20: Three Indian soldiers were among 18 people killed in clashes in occupied Kashmir, police said on Saturday.

They said one “foreign militant” and three members of the Indian forces were killed in a gunbattle on Saturday morning at Rajwar, near the Line of Control (LoC), in the Kupwara district, 87kms northwest of Srinagar.

Four soldiers were also wounded in the gunbattle, officials said.

On Friday evening Indian forces claimed killing four Mujahideen in Pulwama district, south of Srinagar.

Elsewhere, eight Mujahideen and two civilians were killed in separate shootouts across the held state since Friday evening.

Indian Home Minister Lal Krishna Advani said on Friday that Indian forces would continue to take tough action against the freedom fighters.

Daily police bulletins showed that more than 150 people had been killed in occupied Kashmir since the Sept 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.—Reuters
