KARACHI, July 26: The National Accountability Bureau on Thursday filed three new references in the Administrative Accountability Court against officials of different government departments.

One of the references is against a principal appraiser of the Customs, Mohammed Ibrahim the second is against FIA Inspector Noor Mohammed Kaka, and the third one is against a cement dealer, Mahesh Kumar Maheshwari, of Thatta.

Principal Appraiser Mohammed Ibrahim has been accused of acquiring assets beyond his apparent means of income.

His assets include a 400-square-yard double-storey bungalow in Sector 11-B, North Karachi, a double-storey 240-square-yard bungalow in Sector 11-A, North Karachi, a 120-square-yard double-storey commercial property in Sector 11-K, North Karachi.

According to the reference, he also has a Mitsubishi Lancer Car, gold ornaments, bank accounts in his name and the names of his wife and other family members.

The second reference is against an FIA Inspector, Noor Mohammed Kaka, who has been accused of purchasing a bungalow on Khayaban-i-Shujaat, Defence Phase-V.

The third reference is against a former managing director of the Thatta Cement Company and cement dealer, Mahesh Kumar Maheshwari, accused of being a defaulter of Rs3.559 million.

The last accused was arrested on April 12, 2005, who had tried to resolve the matter with NAB officials through a plea bargain but failed to pay the amount.
