LAHORE, July 24: Five dacoits broke into the house of an expatriate at Ameen Park on Tuesday and took away cash and valuables worth Rs1.5 million, police quoted the family as saying.
Kuwait-returned Sheikh Faqeer Muhammad told police the intruders held his family at gunpoint and tied them with a rope. They broke open locks, collected foreign currency notes valued at Rs500,000, 50 tolas of gold, Rs30,000, five cell phones, three cameras and five gold watches and fled. Police registered a case.
Police contradicted the loss claimed by the family and put in Rs900,000 loss in the report.
Two armed men stormed into the house of Muhammad Naseer at Bhaggatpura in Shadbagh and took away cash, jewellery and other valuables worth Rs500,000. Police registered a case.
Four robbers took away cash and jewellery worth thousands from the house of Khawaja Samiullah on Sanda Road.
SHOP ROBBERIES: Two robbers attacked the cell phone outlet of Safdar Khan Leghari in Y-Block in Defence and took away cash, cell phones and calling cards worth Rs289,300.
Three gunmen burst into the shop of Muhammad Rizwan in Sabzazar and escaped with five cell phones and 40 hard disks worth Rs80,000.
Two robbers barged into the garments shop of Mian Umer Saleem in Faisal Town and took away Rs325,000 and a cell phone at gunpoint.
Three robbers looted Rs21,000 and a cell phone from the garments shop of Idrees Abbas at Chowk Patwarian in Ichhra.
STREET CRIME: Two armed men stopped Ghulam Muhammad in Factory Area and deprived him of Rs13,000 and seven cell phones.
Two gunmen took away a motorcycle (LZM-2873) from a man, whose identity has yet to be ascertained, on Habibullah Road.
Two armed motorcyclists intercepted Aftab at gunpoint on Workshop Road in Mughalpura and snatched Rs5,500 and a cell phone from him.
Three robbers came to Muhammad Anwar in Manga Mandi and deprived him of Rs2,500 and a cell phone at gunpoint.
THEFT: Thieves broke into the house of Imtiaz Ahmed Khan at Lohari Mohalla in Nawankot, broke open safes, collected cash, jewellery and other valuables worth hundreds of thousands and made off. Imtiaz and his family were not at home.
Unidentified people stole cash, jewellery and other valuables worth Rs1.5 million from the house of Ali Waris in Super Town in Defence.
STOLEN: Three cars were lifted from Gulshan Ravi, Model Town and Ravi Road and two motorcycles from Ichhra and Kot Lakhpat.
