GUJRANWALA, July 21: The Gujranwala Electric Power Company (Gepco) will install 12 more grid stations by 2010. Gepco Chief Executive Rana Muhammad Ashraf Zahid revealed this while giving a briefing to Punjab Health Minister Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal here on Saturday.
He said that the construction work of 132KV new Wazirabad Road grid station was going on which would be completed during the current year. While another 132KV Ghotki grid station would be completed by June 2008.
The Gepco chief executive said that 46 transformers would be installed for the smooth power supply in the Gujranwala region while 20 of them had already been installed.
He informed the provincial minister that applicants were being provided connections swiftly as the company had no shortage of installation items, including transformers and power meters.
Mr Zahid said the consumer-friendly policy had been adopted for providing better facilities to consumers as the region had scores of industries.
Human resources and administrative director Col Ghazanfer Ali and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
RESCUED: The child protection and welfare bureau claimed to have rescued 752 children in different parts of the city during the last four months.
A spokesman of the bureau said here on Saturday that 710 of them had been handed over to their parents and legal heirs through courts.
He said 42 children were admitted to the protection house where they were being provided health and education facilities. He said the bureau’s helpline 1121 was working round-the-clock.
