LAHORE, July 19: Rai Abdur Rahman Sahi, who was the runner-up in the previous election from the Punjab Assembly constituency (PP-34) from Sargodha as an independent candidate, on Thursday joined the People’s Party along with his supporters.

Mr Sahi announced his decision at a news conference at the Lahore Press Club where Punjab PPP secretary-general Ghulam Abbas welcomed his decision saying that he had joined the party without a condition of the party ticket for the next election. Mr Sahi lost his election as an independent candidate against the PPP’s Dr Nadia Aziz.

Mr Abbas condemned the regime for its failure in arresting a wave of religious extremism and terrorism.
