Chanderpaul joins Durham

LONDON, July 18: Veteran West Indies batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul has signed with Durham County to play the second half of the season, according to the caribbeancricket.com website.

Chanderpaul is also being lined up for a return in 2008 if Durham’s current overseas professional, Michael Di Venuto, applies to become a European citizen.

The Australian has an Italian passport through his father and as such would be classified as a Kolpak signing, freeing the county to sign Chanderpaul.

Other members of the West Indies tour party are also joining counties.
