Mortar shell defused

SIALKOT, July 18: The bomb disposal squad defused a high intensity mortar shell in the fields along the Sialkot working boundary on Wednesday. According to farmers, who found the 40-pound mortar shell in the Laiser-Shakargarh area, the explosive device was foreign made and rusting. It had been fired during the 1971 Pakistan-India war, but it was still alive.

Later, intelligence agencies started an operation in Shakargarh bordering villages in search for any other explosive devices, but they found no more.

Three days ago the bomb disposal squad had defused a high intensity anti-tank landmine in the fields of Zafarwal bordering villages near the Sialkot working boundary. — Correspondent
